How to Make a Yarn Doll

How to Make a Yarn Doll

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

It's easy to take a child out to the mall, snatch a pricey doll off the shelves, and pay for it at the register. But will it be memorable for the child? Another way to approach the situation is to take the time to sit down with them and make a simple yarn doll. The end product may not be as fancy as a store-bought doll, but it'll carry fond memories of quality time spent with someone who cares about them.

Steps

  1. Decide the size of your doll. How big or small do you want your doll to be? Select a piece of cardboard that is roughly the same height. This card, the back of an old notepad, is about 5.5 inches or 14 cm tall.
  2. Select your soft yarn and loop it around the cardboard lengthwise. Tie a knot at the top to secure it.
  3. Keep wrapping the yarn around the board. You'll need at least 100 loops for a good doll. Remember, the more times you wrap it, the thicker your doll will be. On your last loop, tie it to a previous loop to secure it.
  4. Slide a piece of string between the loops and the cardboard. Slide it up to the top and tie a tight knot. This will gather all of the strings together in the center of the board. For a pretty accent bow, you can use a different color piece of yarn.
  5. Slide the strings off of the cardboard. Tie a piece of string in a tight knot around where you'd like the neck of the doll to be. Don't worry if it ends up being too big or too small. You can change it later.
  6. Tie a string tightly where you'd like her waist to be in the middle section of string.
  7. Tie the arms at the "wrists" and trim the looped yarn ends.
  8. Clip the end loops off of the body of your doll to make a "skirt" of yarn. If you want, you can make legs instead of a skirt by sectioning off the middle into 2 parts from the waist down and tying them off like you did the arms.

Tips

  • For a different look, braid the arms and legs before tying them off.
  • If you want your doll to have hair, make sure you put more loops in the beginning, then pull out some loops to be just hair before you tie the neck piece. Leave the extras to dangle in back until you're ready to make them hair.
  • Corn husk dolls are made in a similar fashion, only from corn husks rather than yarn.
  • To make a giant sized yarn doll use a string mop instead of yarn. Take the mop off the plastic piece that would connect it to the handle, fold in half and tie to make head.
  • For less waste, after tying the yarn at the top of the card, cut the yarn loops along the bottom before separating them into arms and legs. This reduces the waste of simply trimming off the loops after they are tied for arms and legs.
  • Try some embellishments like ribbon or using two colors of yarn successively.
  • If you want a doll with a long skirt, you don't have to cut and tie the legs. The bottom half of the doll will look like it's wearing a long skirt.
  • You can put a ring of LifeSavers in the middle for the body. It's really cute!!
  • You don't have to have legs you can make a dress for a girl.

Warnings

  • Always be careful with scissors.

Things You'll Need

  • Cardboard
  • Yarn
  • Scissors

Circular knitting Yarns

There are many types of s yarn, different textures and colors. The other difference between thread s is the price. High quality yarn s bear a label price higher than the synthetic yarn s. Using the exact yarn requested in a pattern usually creates the best results, but there will be moments in which you can choose a different yarn that suggests the pattern. In doing so, you must choose a wire closest what weight to the recommended by the master as possible. Choose a thread that is similar in fiber will give a result that match the pattern.

S yarn are different in weight and thickness. There are four layers, tops, coiled s yarn. Layers is the number of threads that have been woven together to form the final thickness and weight of the finished yarn. When you purchase thread for a given project, must be exactly buy the quantity you need at that time, paying special attention to the number found on the label of yarn dye lot. If you only buy the wire by looking at color rather than batch dyeing, you could do not realize how yarn s may look the same in the store of have a slightly different hue which becomes evident when the threads are later joined while your project are circular. These subtle differences affect outcomes of your project, unless, of course, are deliberately choosing these tones. If you don't buy all the thread you need at the same time, it is possible that you are unable to find that dye lot number more later when you need it.A good idea is to keep each ball of yarn label until you have finished your project weave because it contains not only information on batches of dyeing and color number but also has lavado.Así instructions, there is often a pattern on the back you might want to knit sometime in the future.

Wire light s are best when circular newborns socket, shawls and baby wear and thin socks or gloves weaving fine needles. It is best to choose smooth treated wool washable or yarn for these elementos.S of yarn of medium-weight are better suited for adult sweaters, socks and scarves and wear more resistant articles as mittens and gloves. Heavy or bulky yarn s are ideal for outdoor or sweaters ski resort where you need a warmer and heavier quilt jackets.

Wool - yarn is spun from the fleece of the sheep. Wool is very durable and wool sweaters offer warmth against the cold of winter. Some people prefer to weave wool due to the quality of the finished project.Should be recalled, however, that wool has different textures and some will be rough texture considering that some will be suave.Si plans to lead wool next to the skin, I recommend as smooth a thread as possible. Some people find that more rough wool will make them feel a little spicy. When cleaning anything knitting wool, it is necessary to use a SOAP only very mild and cold or lukewarm water because wool will shrink and mat.

Cotton - this yarn is made from natural plant fibers.Cotton is warm in winter and cool in verano.El cotton is easy to wash, wear and can be used for almost any pledge you want to knit.

Can do you at home, right? The first time I went to a group of weaving, I thought that only the people sat down together and weaving in silence. I was wrong! It is more like a group of friends get together to talk and become circular.

You'll be surprised how the other members of the Group want to know it.It is your way of making feel you welcome.

You will be the same when members come first to their tissue group meeting.

Be prepared to answer questions like, "how long had you weave," "Where to buy your thread," "where you live" and "what big plans for the weekend?" Ask them what they think of LYSs (Local Yarn Shops). If you are a new Weaver, a list of LYSs near you to view and play the new brands of yarn, buy yarn or go to their sales throughout the day. Keeping the list of their LYSs and ask them to think of a certain LYS. The group members are happy to tell you about his experience of shopping in a LYS.

Hear comments such as "staff was gloominess, the staff is so friendly, too expensive for me, basically same thread in my LYSs, not worth the trip".This information is useful when handling the LYS to buy yarn.

If you've been to a LYS before, please share with them how were treated, that you have purchased or only what you liked the LYS. For example, the first time I went to a group of weaving, 2 members worked in a LYS! Help a Weaver once again with your project. People go to a group of weaving weaving, but also to learn from experience knitters. For example, be kind enough to submit your project for a second and help other new Weaver with his project as "holes" fixing or cose extra in a needle.

I remember that my first Tissue Group, meeting only knew how to put and weaving in the collection of the League.Had finished my handkerchief, but didn't know how to get rid.

I asked a member if she could show how to get rid of my scarf, and she politely quell the hat and needles 4, to show me discarded! Wow, talk about being nice! Carry a simple project weave for knit. You are at the meeting that satisfy knitters, share tips and weaving. If it takes long, complicated patterns that require stitches you count each row and focus too, then stay home to do so.

The idea is to join the conversation and be friends.

I recommend putting a project of weaving as a dishcloth, sock, scarf or shawl which has 1 or 2 patterns, or the collection of the League. For example, a member in one of the meetings that says, "brought something mindless knitting." It was a long scarf in the collection of the League. Bring your list of patterns of weaving writing.

A member or you could get an idea for weaving project meeting. If you are a member regular, a member could even offer yarn as a gift and would like to knit this time.

At times, may not be secure basic as a chevron, pen and the fan or the Horseshoe pattern. You will be glad that someone or have a list of basic patterns in writing in the bag of weaving Bring some of their WIPs (works on projects). Each Weaver strives to finish a project because there is always a new most exciting project to start. Encourage them to complete their WIPs.

Don't forget to tell you what is in your hands! Not just for show, but to obtain their views and suggestions.

For example, one of his sketches is a scarf mohair yarn fitting.Gladly tell you what they think about thread that you use, congratulate him on the idea and ask about the days more later until the end of it. Gather in knit next events. If you are a new Weaver, need not be shy in a LYS event. Why go by yourself to a fabric store sale, event, or circular show?Have fun with friends. what planning go to an event of weaving? Ask the members if going and meet them there!

After attending a meeting of the Group of weaving, you will want to go to the siguiente.Espero 7 ways to help you feel comfortable in a tissue group meeting.Remember that get to know members of your group, make a simple weave and join them in an event of weaving project.Circular not to be a single, sometimes frustrating experience.

Tips for prevention of anthelmintic when circulars with chenille

Chenille is a wonderful and versatile yarn which produces soft and luxurious fabric when knit or crochet. Unfortunately, working with chenille is not always a company without any problems. One of the most common problems associated with chenille is the tendency to the anthelmintic when tissues. Anthelmintic occurs when a loop of yarn pulls away from the woven fabric and rolls back on itself. We have found this problem every time with one of our favourite chenille, Muench Touch Me yarn s and therefore we know how frustrating that can be.

Fortunately, if we understand what it is that facilitates anthelmintic chenille, we can take steps to prevent that from happening. Chenille yarn s are constructed of short tufts of anchored in a central core of coiled fibres, yarns and it is precisely this spiral nature core yarn which gives rise to worming. It's like when you hold both ends of a length of string, and then twist and twist and twist...Finally, if there is any delay in the chain, coil to envelope yes mismo.Chenilla begins with some rotation built on it and spin that introduces more when circular, the greater the likelihood that you'll get some worming.

Therefore, there are some things you can try to reduce the likelihood of anthelmintic:

Reduce the size of the needle - a narrower gauge its points of suture is maintained in place and reduce the likelihood of worming. (Some, which tends to produce a more strict meter weave, is less likely to allow anthelmintic.)
Take steps to reduce the amount of rotation you're entering. Each stitch mesh introduces a small amount of rotation for yarn and knitting stitches rotation in the opposite direction of purl stitches. Therefore any piece knitting entirely in stockinette collection (stitches mesh everything on the one hand stitches purl all on the other hand) will be filming at the edges.
Balancing knitting stitches, purl stitches in League collection or collection of seeds, you can reduce the parasite effect. Try to weave continental style. Continental style weaving tends to present less round nut yarn of English style (pull thread). Weaving from the other end of the wire. If the rotation that is introduced in the same direction rotation core yarn, will be much more likely to have problems with disinfectant.Working from the other end of wire can be balanced torque core yarn and reduce vermífugo.Recuerde some fibers have a greater tendency to worms. Slippery microfiber and rayon fibers and synthetic fibers are more likely worm than cotton. If your favourite chenille has a high percentage of fibre slippery, you might want to hold another thread with him when circulars - thread can help your chenille instead of anchor.

A little knowledge can go a long camino.Si you have problems with anthelmintic, try to experiment on some of the points listed above.Don't be afraid of me working with a beautiful thread as Muench Touch and not leave!Keep trying until you find what works for usted.Su reward is the fabric of plush, velvety chenille fabrics.

Hide Flow - circulars in difficult times

In these tough economic times, the new buzzword is definitely "Save". Banks and financial institutions want to save your money for you, towns and cities you want to save the garbage in containers for recycling, the environmental movement wants to save the rainforest with the spotted owl and store the promise of discounts to save money at the checkout line.

Knitters are well known as protectors of experienced, actively stalking yarn and constantly looking around new colors and textures. Made with the game, surreptitiously stored in corners and maze of their homes, much like squirrels hiding the nuts for next winter.Sometimes we forget that where these alijos.Vienen have hidden from a cache outside of place of thread can be a pleasant surprise, only to open the bag or box, look at the contents with nostalgia mutter "perhaps not yet" and put it back where it was found.

Serious Knitters love caressing skeins of yarn, evidence to the softness of his hand, discussed about sample cards while creating how this thread and no other could weave in this sleeve pullover raglan dreamer with funnel neck.Sprouting ideas, although always creative, it is likely that are too ambitious and riding by knitting disponibles.Por, unfortunately, time constraints if enough time between the purchase and distribution passes, are often forgotten why that particular yarn was bought in the first place. Like a financial portfolio, a stash of yarn always can benefit from a scheduled review and put to good use weave before it undergoes a devaluation in texture or color.

It seems strange but even something apparently fairly basic thread may start looking for fashion fecha.S ex yarn as textures chenille and skins, a popular move time sobre needle to make room for yarn types currently on the boards of drawing spinners and manufacturers. Even the more keen-eyed Weaver is aware of what comes in future trends as new production techniques and methods are always in the wings. It is safer to innovative textures and varieties of yarn emerge and take their place in store shelves.

Of course, color can date definitely a thread and a particular color combination can look somewhat old-fashioned a few years, no matter how carefully was chosen.Yarn manufacturers take great pains in the "composition" muestra.colocando card color near a compatible tone or within color groups shows the same intensity or brightness, expect to optimize overall visual appeal of the yarn. At this point, color, councils requiring color trends in the fashion industry are difficult work choose what will be the colors in fashion of two or three years from now. There is more to the popularity of certain colours simple caprice and opportunity. Circular caches can become unwitting victims of fashion to these trends.

Point clothing styles are changing constantly, as well.If a particular yarn was purchased to improve style of clothing, the chosen design may have lost its attraction with the passage of time.Classical styles weave with basic yarn s can help alleviate this particular stash dilemma. It is always difficult to believe that a current trend never becomes fashionable, but is only with the retrospective that we see the subtle changes and changes in our tastes and options. No doubt some elements can become classics, however, warned not to save your yarn too long in order to make a fashion statement.

In the stashers rate buy yarn, one might think that they have a single track or knowledge of a tip of hot regarding an imminent shortage of yarn .Alijos saved during too time and are delivered may require a reassessment of your potential. stash long-term investment term would have to be hoping that perhaps fashion cycles bring these yarn in boga.No s forget to protect an investment with repellents moths and pests, review thread portfolio frequently and increase the rate of rotation of the alijo.Si nothing more, promising yourself that you will save you much time to weave this year.

Be happy...It be Knitting!

Life is good. We must always remember. Do something worthwhile. Learn to weave.

Of course, to learn how to weave, one of the first things you need to know is how to hold needles.

Knitters, regardless of where live, all weaving in the same way.The only difference is how maintains thread in which hand.

There are two basic forms of tejer.Uno is the form of English (or United States), and the other is the way to continental.

To begin to weave English method, hold the right needle as you would with a pen. The left needle gets held between the left thumb and index finger to control points stitches.

Some knitters as weaving near the tip of the needle, while others prefer security maintain points further back on the needle stitches. Either way is fine.

In fact, some projects are easier to work close to the tip than others. This information can be found with patterns that weave.

Your choice, control, is what works for you! That is the beauty of weaving;find your own camino.poco shortly after similar life.

Note the word "loose" at all times when in. Actually serves. And you want to be flexible enough to work with the Foundation row.

When you start to weave, keep clockwise slightly and don't let that stitches to become too tight or close points. If you're new to weave, probably this will happen.Only unravel and start again.

Weave should flow fácilmente.Oh yes, there are those bulky s of yarn thickness, which are difficult to work, so it will require a greater force you as you progress, but that is normal for that particular yarn.

Nothing must be so close as to be impossible to work out of the needle. If that happens, just go back and recheck intentarlo.Y again. And, perhaps, even once more.

As you progress, remember to check your yarn and stitches with their index finger derecho.O you can use several fingers to control. This is important to keep all points suture needle.Especially as you learn to include stitches beyond "knit and purl", as "I" or "k2tog" or aumentar. No wishes to start the fall of stitches or lose from row to row.

You know the transaction; what becomes 43 points stitches and the sixth row has perhaps 39, what other suture four points where?

Remember, no one correct method that is 100%;If something works for you, then, you paste with.

Keep in mind when making stitches; maintain a hand sign in their needles, but firmly grip that not a stitch can weave.

Relax! it's only the thread.

Weave should be comfortable to you, and in principle, do not feel that manera.Eso is normal, too. only with much practice you will begin to form its own unique approach to weaving!

When you reach, weaving will be so easy to do and ideas will appear in the head all the time, ideas that you can transfer to their needles knitting for creations not like no other!

For will have found a gift, a gift that can bring to the world! you see, is the thread that weave invisible thread that weaves us all... one to another.

Knitting beginner's Guide

Weave is an old embroideries, created by interlaced s of yarn in a series of connected, loops through blind straight needles or machines. This article serves as a beginners guide to weave. In other words, we try to offer you complex art of weaving in simple steps.

Tools necessary for Knitting.

or Knitting Needles. Knitting needles are made from a variety of materials such as bamboo, plastic and glass. They are circular or double pointed out in the formas.Disponible in different dimensions of size 0 to size 50, size 8 (United States) is the ideal size for beginners. Please note the knitting needle size is measured in two different styles, the United States and metric-style.

or Knitting Yarn s s Knitting yarn are traded in different colours, materials, sizes, textures, weights and layers (layers is a sum total of twisted yarn s together strands to form knitting yarn).Multiple layers increases the strength and durability of yarn and therefore the woven fabric.

Types of Slivers of Knit. Point Stitch and purl Stitch are two points of knitting stitches fundamentales.Se manages a combination of two suture points to create the desired structure.

Guide for beginners to Knitting.Comenzando to weave (fade in) and put (discarded) are quite crucial lessons that dominate, apart from the suture points. Mastering these techniques all else falls as a variation on these points stitches.

or Slipknot. Slipknot is bound to protect the fabric. As the mesh is more developed, slipknot prevents to suture the opening points.

or Cast activado.Para begin to weave, one has to become stitches. This is done by making loop slide on the left needle. The right needle is then passed on the loop from the left to the right of the yarn, under and over the right needle. Then draw the wire of sliding loop and the loop to transfer to the left needle. Repeat this process until you get the required number of stitches in the left needle. Now start to weave, maintaining its pattern of weaving in mind. Although it seems however complicated, you can easily dominate with practice.

or Stitch Knit.Stitch mesh is considered one of the building blocks of weaving. This technique of weaving Basic is to insert the right needle through the first collection of his left hand needle. Then wind yarn on the cross of two clockwise, the right hand needle and pulling through the continuation bucle.A, only slide above the first original mesh left needle to the right of the needle.Repeat the process until you transfer all points of suture mesh from the left needle to the right. This step completes a row mesh meshes.

Circular knitting stitches: 5 most popular Knitting Stitch types

Welcome to the wonderful world of weaving. Even if you have been here for a while, there's always something new on this most fascinating craft!

Let me begin with the presentation of the five types that I think are at the heart of weaving mesh!

Learn to weave, you know, is nothing more different learning types of meshes of weaving.

Wherever you roam on the Web, many of the same questions surgen.Una and once again I come from forums and discussions with the same types of concerns.

This article attempts to explain some points basic knitting stitches and everything what they cover.

I will talk about 'the mesh stitch', 'the purl mesh', 'weave together 2', ' yarn - on ' and 'stockinette' mesh.

These five points of suture, I believe, form the very foundation of weaving.Learn and perfect, each one of these, and will be well on its way to become an expert in weaving!

All other patterns emerge from these few points stitches. So let's start!

'The Knit Stitch'. Have you ever looking something knitted? I mean, it seemed really? If you have, you will see one side of the circular looks different from the other.

Weave structures continues. The mesh mesh is composed of do loops that polarized together; one after another.

The mesh mesh look like little "v" patterns, seen from the side mesh pattern.

To form a "mesh weave" use a needle to remove a loop of thread through the existing mesh on another needle. (You can weave with more than two needles, but is a debate for another day).

Holding both needle in their hands, insert the right needle of "front to back" first collection in needle izquierda.Mantener thread at the rear, put "on" the tip of the needle, counterclockwise. Pull thread down and catch it with the right needle.

Slide the "old" mesh off the left needle and you have a new stitch on the right needle! A stitch mesh!

Many times you will be the mesh mesh is the "right" or RS of his work. But from time to time, will be the "wrong side" or WS.

In any case, it is good to know that these two abbreviations.

'The purl Stitch'.The purl mesh closely resembles what seems "face brick" seen from the purl pattern side.

Unlike the mesh mesh, the mesh of purl, maintains thread to "front" of its fabric.

Insert the needle right "back to front" in the first stitch on the left needle. With your right index finger, wrap yarn counterclockwise around and on the right needle.

Draw the right needle and thread back on the mesh of the "old".Deslice outside of the old mesh.A new forms collection.A purl stitch!

«Knitting together 2.»Now, this is easy!Only weave two together! insert second mesh right needle from the tip of the needle left, making sure "catch" the first mesh with her.

Bring your yarn sobre then down, catch your thread, old points of suture of the packing slip out and you have a new stitch instead.

You will have only a new dos.Dos stitch together circulars often are used to decrease stitches points or to create an open work pattern.

«Yarn - on '. adding a yarn - more, or I, is also used to create layouts work abierto.Hacer a thread - on after a stitch mesh, just bring your thread of his work from the rear to frente.A continuation, knit the next mesh.»

You will see an extra "Wireframe" in the fila.Cuando reaches this collection the next row of weaving, you won't see anchored as the demás.Eso is because placed there, all of himself.

Weaving as knitting any stitch. According to go, you will see that thread - overs creation "holes" or draughts in its fabric designs.

'Stockinette Stitch'. this collection is more common in tejer.Todos consists of is weaving a row, pure, then the next and so, and so forth.

Stockinette collection is exactly where to begin each Tejedor.Y with him until you know your points suture well!

Therefore, you have! * 5 * most popular circular knitting stitch types!
